Bedroom Eye Candy!

We have bedroom makeovers on the brain in my house. All my girls are ready for a revamp and quite frankly so are my husband and I. I have started with my youngest and will be going to mine next. As I have hers already planned out and am currently working on the details - my brain is already wandering to ideas for mine. I am in love with the color green right now. Not mint green, not sage green but GREEN GREEN! More on that later.... As for now, here are some pretty fabulous bedrooms from House Beautiful and Elle Decor. Enjoy!

Elle Decor
I don't think I will ever dislike animal print!

Green!

How funny are these yes/no pillows?!!! I may have to steal this idea for an element of fun!

I used to hate white walls.  Now I love them!

House Beautiful

So rich and beautiful!

I wish I could remember where I got these pictures but I can't.  I love love love how dramatic they are. The blue is beautiful.  If I didn't get tired of things so quickly, I would love to have this bedroom!

The yellow vases are like the earrings that complete the outfit!

Laundry Room Makeover

My laundry room is directly off of my garage. It also happens to be our mud room and the "catch all" for shoes, purses, backpacks, coats and keys. Everytime I did laundry, I had to trip over shoes to get to the machine. You can see in my before picture, how little room there is to work and this is after I cleared out all of the clutter...
I moved my machines to make more room and added a little glam to this otherwise drab laundry room. I love it now!
Everyone is into the chevron stripes and I am no exception. I painted this message board and added the hooks for a pop of color and convenience.
Now I can't very well have a new laundry room that I love and still be tripping over shoes. So to fix this situation, I painted the dingy garage door black and stenciled a message for my family to see. This also takes care of having too many pairs of shoes hanging around where they shouldn't be. Even though we spray for spiders, the thought of them has my teenage girls taking the extra pairs to their rooms! Win win!!!
As always I will be linking up to some fab parties and I would love to read your comments!

Thrift Store Table

I bought this table at the thrift store for $10!  Very cute!

Thrift Store Finds

I really have a problem with lamps.  I admit that I am addicted and can't seem to stop myself.  These are lamps I found at the thrift store.  $15 bucks for everything on this table! Well everything but the bowl of apples.  I can't wait to show you what I do with them.

Driftwood Candle Holder

So I have wanted to do this for a very long time.  I happened to run across the tutorial over at Restoration House.  Make sure you check out her blog.  It is fabulous!
I was looking for the pictures I took along the way but somehow they got deleted.  However, you can check Restoration House's tutorial here.

Custom Storage

I made these out of cardboard boxes. I searched and searched for some stylish boxes to hide all my husbands misc items. I wanted the room done so I could move on to something new. Out of frustration, I came up with these...

I bought some cheap cardboard boxes at Walmart. The material I found for cheap at Joann Fabric. The rings are curtain grommets that are sold in a pack. I drilled the holes first and used adhesive spray to get the material to stick and then cut the material around the holes. I used a hot glue gun on the grommets. This took me about 2 hours from start to finish! So relieved!!!

Pool Time!

So I have been a busy bee lately.  I have finished my husband's office (photos to come later) and I am almost done with the dining room!  Then I will move on to the entry which gets tons of natural light but always seems so boring.  It should be the most beautiful part of the house but it is actually my least favorite.

As for right now, we are in the process of having an inground pool installed.  I am so very excited! A self-proclaimed sun junky I am, I am....
We have the pool picked out and the digging should start at the beginning of April.  The fence will go up this weekend.  Here are a few photos that I have added to my idea book from Houzz....

Office Coffee Table

The mirror table for my husbands office/study came today. Of course as soon as I open the box, I notice the chip and crack on the corner BUT like any impatient girl, I feel the need to put it together and admire it until the replacement comes on Monday. I have a few more things to do in this room before it is complete but I'm feeling good about the direction I chose to go. With all the dark colors in the room, a bit of shine is just what it needs!

My Little Sewing Project

I have been busy this week!  I haven't had much time to post because the flu had found it's way into our home.  However, while taking care of sick children I managed to sew some pillows for my family room sofa and my husband's office.  Just to be clear... I do not sew.  I once took a sewing class in the 7th grade, but if I remember correctly, my teacher wasn't very impressed with my work.  Even so, if I had to describe myself in one word, determined would be me! So I dusted off an old sewing machine stored in the basement and I got to work.  Lord help me! I could not even remember how to thread the machine and the bobbin! YouTube my friends can get you through anything! Ha Ha (true story).
So here are the pillows I made.  I am pretty happy with them.  If someone was to look closely, they would see my amateur work.  I did have a lot of fun though and I think I may have been bit by the sewing bug.  I am going to take some classes soon!
The brown pillows were made from a shower curtain that I found at TJ Maxx.
The black prints were stenciled on.
